Meet sarah
Sarah was born and raised near Richmond, Virginia. An only child in a chaotic home, she found solace in books, stories, and daydreams. Her fascination with storytelling led her to explore human nature through the eyes of the deeply flawed protagonists and unlikable characters she connected with most. Her writing has taken on different forms over the years, but her love of character-driven stories with harrowing obstacles and high stakes still inspires her and continues to fuel her writing today.
Sarah was a high school English tutor and youth mentor for over a decade. During this time she saw a need for more creative outlets for teens and young adults. In 2011, Sarah formed the non-profit community theater program Players of Light and spent six years training teenagers and college students for work onstage and within their communities.
Today, Sarah serves on the board of the Fairview Arts Council where she works as an acting coach, podcast host, and an advocate for local artists and creative spaces. Sarah is a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, an organization focused on helping youth achieve their full potential through mentorship. She writes full-time, dosing on coffee and chocolate to meet her never-ending word count goals.
Her show Coffee & Words (available on YouTube) spotlights artists and creativity across all genres and mediums, and answers thought-provoking questions about the importance of art and its role in society. Sarah is also the cohost of Two Broad Casters with #vanlife-preneur Lauri Day (available on all podcast platforms), featuring candid conversations about life and the human experience.
Sarah’s debut contemporary novel, Every Beaten Path, a heartfelt story about grief, loss, and hard places in life, was released in 2020 after the death of her son. “This novel was an exploration of the difficult experiences in my life and in the lives of those closest to me.”
In 2021 Sarah returned to her darker fiction roots, devoting her writing career to the horror genre where she explores contemporary elements of Gothic storytelling , psychological thrillers, ghosts, demons, and a sprinkling of domestic suspense. She is currently working on an apocalyptic horror (no zombies!) set in the farmlands of Illinois while querying her most recent project, a contemporary horror in the vein of Mexican Gothic and Behind Closed Doors, set in the mountains of Nantahala, North Carolina.
Sarah lives on a small farm near Nashville, Tennessee with her husband, two sons, a brood of chickens, and their German Shepherd, Charlie.
